Intel has presented at Computex 2018 its fastest CPU in its 50-year history. The new Intel Core i7-8086K processor is a limited edition (only 50,000 units will be manufactured) that serves as a tribute to the 40th Anniversary of the legendary 8086 processor , the brain of the first PC.
This new Intel CPU is the first with 6 cores, 12 threads and integrated graphics processor, which works with the LGA 1151 socket. It is also the first Intel CPU that reaches 5 GHz in a single core, although it does in Turbo Mode. This means that it only reaches that speed if the temperature conditions are adequate. You will need a very good cooling to reach 5 GHz.
Actually the new Itel Core i7-8086K is a variant of the current i7-8700K , but with a little more speed. It works at 4 GHz, with the Turbo Mode accelerating up to 5 GHz, as we have said. And you can overclock at pleasure.

It also has 12 MB of Smartcache, data bus of 8 GT / sg, and a TDP consumption of 95W. It is manufactured with 14 nm technology and directs a maximum of 64 GB of DDR4 RAM at 2666 Mhz. The bandwidth of the memory is 41.6 GB / sg.
The integrated graphics processor accepts 4K resolution at 60 Hz and supports up to three monitors. It will be released this summer in a limited edition of 50,000 units. Intel has not provided prices, but considering that the i7-8700K costs € 327 on Amazon , we doubt that this i7-8086K is worth less than € 400, since it is faster and also a limited edition.
As we have said, the particular numbering of the chip is due to the fact that it is a tribute to the 40th Anniversary of the legendary Intel 8086 processor , marketed on June 8, 1978. It was the first 16-bit processor, and a cropped version with a bus of 8 bits, the 8088, became the processor of the first IBM PC.
