In unpacking Pocophone F1, I said that ideologically the model is very close to the early flagships of Xiaomi, which were also made of plastic, did not pretend to much in terms of the camera or any chips, and the main feature was the most powerful processor on the market at a very humane price. But the more I poke Poco, the more I realize that Xiaomi, unwittingly, can slightly subvert the sales of its own flagships.
Pocophone F1 is offered at a price of 20,990 rubles and is available only online, that is, in retail, the same Mi 8 can still feel relatively safe. However, users who prefer to order smartphones on the Internet, with the advent of F1 may well change their mind and stop putting it off on Mi 8, taking Pocophone right now. Pokofon also has an advanced unlock on the face, it has the same productive chipset and also a lot of memory, and also it has a 15% more powerful battery, a quality IPS and a slightly lower eyebrow.
F1 does not have NFC, which is sad, the body is made of plastic, not glass, which is also not very premium (although practical), and the camera of the Mi 8 is more advanced. In principle, for these three points, you can overpay almost a third of the price. And what if the Mi 8 camera, surpassing F1 on paper, does not really show the best results in reality? Does it make sense then 30% overpayment? In general, I decided to compare the cameras Pocophone F1 and Xiaomi Mi 8. The main 12-Mp module Mi 8 has optical stabilization, the aperture is f / 1.8, and the additional module has a resolution of 12 megapixels, whereas in F1 the main module of similar resolution is deprived of the system stabilization, offers optics with aperture f / 1.9, and the second lens is only 5 megapixels. I think if you do not tell where someone is, then you would be tortured with uncertainty until you saw the footage shot in poor conditions. Everything is right: on the left – Pocophone F1, on the right – Xiaomi Mi 8. At a sufficient level of illumination, smartphones produce equally good, but at the same time different results. And according to the balance of the white, then one is more precise, then the other (both are left in the cold side, then in warm, but in different subjects).
Artificial intelligence offers the same subjects, automatic HDR is also offered in the same moments. Curiously, with good light, the frames with Mi 8 are noisier, which is especially noticeable on the side, while in F1 the angle of capture is wider.
On this pair I was surprised by the strong chromatic aberrations of Xiaomi Mi 8. You can say that he has ruined this photo.
Here Pocophone F1 on the cup painted some blue spot, Mi 8 coped with the reflection of the light better (although the temperature of the scene did not convey correctly).
The superiority of the camera module Mi 8 is manifested in conditions of insufficient illumination: in F1 the detailing decreases and the sharpness decreases, the frames become darker. But there is no more noise in F1. On the contrary, in photos with Mi 8, colored noises emerge, and in some cases it generally draws a daub, as in the case of the blue Puma sneakers.
On the idea of night Mi 8 should give out very strong shots, if we consider that he and OIS have, and the lightsaber is decent. In fact, the pictures with Pocophone F1, by and large, just look darker, the results with Mi 8 do not look better.
Frontala in 20-megapixel phones and I liked the Selfie with Pocophone F1. For completeness of impressions from smartphone cameras, only video examples are missing, but this moment I will close in the full review of Pocophone F1. In the meantime, for me, obviously, the lack of superiority of Mi 8 in the photo part over F1 and I’m ready to say that Pocophone F1 has a Xiaomi Mi 8 level camera . Pokofon well done, in short.
